Maybe you could provide some details of the error messages encountered?

What version of lighttpd are you using? lighttpd 1.4.45? Have you tried with lighttpd git master?

Fixed now after about 3 weeks!
It is version 1.4.45-7 as included in the LEDE package feeds.

I raised it on Github lede package feeds and @MikePetullo was mentioned.
Like magic it is working this morning so many thanks!

I am developing on embedded devices and find lighttpd amazingly fast and small footprint.
Many thanks to all involved for all the hard work :-)
