[Solved] sending patches for 1.4.x
Added by angelo almost 5 years ago
Hi all,
sent a patch today,
Subject: [PATCH] [mod_authn_pam] enforcing basic authentication
but cannot verify if it's in the mailing list,
since http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.web.lighttpd is not responding.
Please let me know if any further action is needed for the review.
Thanks a lot,
Regards,
angelo

I replied in email.
When suggesting patches, please communicate the reasoning behind the patch, including the problem that you are trying to solve.
Please read up on PAM. When using PAM, you can create your own service rules and can use the pam_access module with your own access.conf file (similar to /etc/security/access.conf). Doing so might allow you to do what you are trying to do without requiring any code changes.

tl;dr: when using PAM, use PAM. Read the documentation for PAM and create an appropriate pam configuration for your named service.
