Lighttpd false claims on homepage
Added by peebody about 14 years ago
Just wanted to let you know that on your homepage you claim YouTube, wikipedia and meebo are running lighttpd, and I checked all of them and NONE OF THEM ARE running lighttpd.... some are running apache, some nginx, and wiseguy, but none are using lighttpd. Perhaps you should update your homepage?
Thanks for the great job though!

For Youtube you even find videos on google techtalks about it, current status isn´t known ofc. For wikipedia they use them as upload imageservers iirc. Just browse their maintainance announcements (i´m sure you´ll find the url). Meebo sure does. So you´re probably wrong with all three claims.

IMO you might want to re-evaluate the claims about powering those sites, I agree they might be misleading.

a) s.meebo.com (all static stuff I guess) runs lighty
b) The servers behind s.ytimg.com are lightys with some custom modifications (lighttpd-yt/1.4.18), they run the static images for youtube
c) Wikipedia used to use it for their image servers but I think they switched to some java server, not sure if it's still in the mix somewhere behind loadbalancers
