Description

Service Tag is a small application to provide product identifier. People can
use this to tag a device or a application. And this information becomes
available over a network. This helps IT track and manage hardware and
software assets. This Service Tag is available on Linux, Solaris, MacOS
and soon on Windows. It's also open sourced under GPLv3 license at
(https://openservicetag.dev.java.net/). Many Sun software already use
service tag to identify themself: OpenSolaris, JDK, Netbeans, and many
others.

I propose to have some simple scripts to add Lighttpd name
and version into the Sevice Tag repository for users's convenience.

Files

servicetag_scripts.tar.gz (10 KB) servicetag_scripts.tar.gz here are the scripts, testing on Solaris 10. adam.zhang, 2008-06-05 05:44

http://www.bytebot.net/blog/archives/2008/04/07/open-service-tag-released-under-gplv3 also references https://openservicetag.dev.java.net/, but https://openservicetag.dev.java.net/ is a dead link.

If this is still a thing that you think is worthwhile looking into, please provide updated links. However, implementation in lighttpd should not include GPLv3 code, so that might mean that it can not be part of the official lighttpd distribution.
