I've read the bug reports and I understand that lighttpd doesn't allow underscores in domains. However, I have an established site that I would like to transfer from apache that has a lot of subdomains containing underscores.
I've found this bug report that contains a fix but I can't get it to work on the current release:

Can anyone give me a pointer please? It's the only snag I have but it is a problem that is preventing me from moving to lighttpd.
