Hello,
I have used Lighttpd for years with great satisfaction. I have configured it with SSL certificate and my server.document-root is: /srv/htdocs/.....
Now I would like to install WordPress and I have everywhere read that it has to be installed under /var/www/html/ but in this case I would loose SSH connection.
Can you please advise if I have to install it under /srv/htdocs/..... or where?

lighttpd does not care, and I do not think WordPress cares, either.
Why not try installing it the way that you want and see how it works?
